Egypt is venue for Obama's next Muslim outreach speech

US President Barack Hussein Obama II will deliver another reconciliation speech to the Muslim world in Egypt next month. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters on Friday that the speech would be delivered in Egypt on June 4 but did not say whether it would be in the Egyptian capital Cairo, nor would he confirm that he had even received an invitation from Egypt. Insiders speculate that Obama would like to speak in front of the Giza pyramids, so that he can speak in a venue of sufficient grandeur. Obama's Egypt trip fulfills (again) a promise he made during his presidential campaign to give a major address to Muslims from a Muslim city during his first few months in office.

While Egypt has been a key partner for Washington in decades of efforts to secure Middle East peace, "human rights groups" like Amnesty Internation criticized the choice because of the country's poor human rights record. Relations with President Hosni Mubarak have been strained over his resentment of Washington's rapprochement with Tehran. But apparently searches for a Muslim country with a better human rights record proved unsuccessful. "It is a country that in many ways represents the heart of the Arab world," Gibbs said vaguely, in response to comments. "The scope of the speech, the desire for the president to speak (to the Muslim world), is bigger than where the speech was going to be given or who's the leadership of the country where the speech is going to be given," he said.

Obama has made many efforts to reach out to the Arab and Muslim world since taking office. During his inauguration speech he said that the US seeks "a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect" and that the US is willing to "extend a hand if (the Muslim world is) willing to unclench your fist." Obama chose an Arab station, Al Arabiya, to give his first formal TV interview. His first official call to a foreign leader was to Palestinian Authority constable Mahmoud Abbas. He also called for peace and dialogue with Islam in a speech to Turkey's parliament on his first presidential visit to the Muslim world in April. But apparently Istanbul didn't count as a Muslim-reconciliation speech.

Perhaps the true significance can be found in the date: June 4th is recognized as the day before the anniversary of Israel's Six Day War victory in 1967, the day before Israel wiped out the Egyptian air force at once on the morning of the 5th. With his embrace of the Arab Peace Plan, Obama is signaling that Israel will be forced back to the June 4 lines, including his determination to wrest the Old City of Jerusalem from Israeli control. That's why Obama is not pairing a trip to Egypt with what otherwise would be a natural complement: an address to the Israeli Knesset.

On June 6, Obama will celebrate the anniversary of the invasion of Normandy in 1944.

In between, Obama will go to the German city of Dresden and the Buchenwald concentration camp, Gibbs said, apparently trying to equate German suffering and German genocide.

His motives are highly questionable - his arrogance and flippant demeanor make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Wherever he trods - he assumes that the waters will be stilled, and that he will somehow be a soothsayer to those who listen to his rhetoric. I for one am not hypnotized by his empty and diluted rants. The world needs to be very cognizant and aware that his moorings are founded upon policies and principles which throughout history have failed - either due to their fundamentally flawed economic understandings or to their basal foundations in evil. Everything I hear from Obama echoes of sensation - not substance.

That President Obama would choose the grandeur of the Pyramids to address the Muslim world is not surprising to those of us who see through his attempt to make himself seem larger than life. Sadly, he is a characterless man unworthy of the freedom he is squashing. I am confident that Prime Minister Netanyahu has had the revelation that the American administration will soon show the heal of its boot to the Jewish state, all in favor of courting an element of the world that seeks his destruction. Professing himself the wise savior of the world, Obama has demonstrated little beyond foolish thinking and geopolitical folly. The nearsighted and simple minded are lapping him up and glorifying him beyond logic. But hope is not lost. A majority of Americans still holds Israel in great esteem and is praying for the peace of Jerusalem. Sadly however, Americans have, for the most part, acquiesed to the idea of an all powerful government. If that does not change, America will soon cease to exist as it was designed, and Israel will be left by the wayside. Fear not! As prophesied in Ezekiel 38-39, the Lord G_d will intervene and the whole world will know it.

Egypt then Germany, this little boy/king messiah is showing the Jewish people the calculated path he laid out for them by going to these places. It’s a subtle message with much endeavor, enslavement then death camps.
