Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made the following statement on the Cabinet Decision to suspend new construction in Judea and Samaria
"Today, my cabinet authorized a policy of restraint regarding settlements which will include a suspension of new permits and new construction in Judea and Samaria for a period of ten months."

Sometimes there are many ideas fighting for attention in my mind, covering all the subjects I tend to write a column about, but each isn’t worthy of its own full-length coverage. Consequently, I collect them. So, in no particular order, here are my current random musings.
* A great feel-good dad moment occurred when I complimented Will on how terrific and cute his new girlfriend was. Without missing a beat, he replied, “You taught me well, Dad.” Guess he’ll get to use my truck, after all.
* Do… Continue

IAW [Israeli Apartheid Week] has an idiotic propaganda poster competition. The winning design would be used in Israeli Apartheid Weeks across the globe. Isn't that lovely? A competition for all the idiots and propagandists everywhere. So I guess the winning poster would b the most propagandistic poster. This propaganda group states:
"We are proud to announce the first international Israeli Apartheid Week poster competition. First launched in Toronto in 2005, Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) has gro… Continue

On 2001, Faisal Husseini expressed the real intentions of the Palestinian Authority to an Egyptian newspaper called Al-Arabi. In that interview, Husseini stated that the Oslo accords was a Trojan horse in order to achieve what the he and the rest of the Palestinian terrorist movement considers to be the "liberation" of Palestine "from the river to the sea" i.e. to destroy Israel [any map of Israel shows that the call to "liberate" Palestine from the river to the sea would essentially mean the de… Continue
Israeli Apartheid Week [IAW] is one of the most poisonous propaganda events the world has ever seen. Here, I will totally discredit their about page. The quotes below are from the about page of IAW. You'll see my refutation below.
"Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) is an annual international series of events held in cities and campuses across the globe. The aim of IAW is to educate people about the nature of Israel as an apartheid system and to build Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign… Continue

Slave Labor in China
Insofar as I'm able to tell, we're all complicit (especially those in the West; and most particularly America), for all kinds of reasons (most of which being: a sense of entitlement: Americans feeling entitled is going to sink America like a rock), for allowing slavery in Communist China to continue unabated for so long....communism was at one time anathema to America's Constitutional 'Freedom' loving documentation; perhaps that only applies when the topic is USSR/Rus… Continue
Israeli media and officials cautiously reported that a deal with Hamas to release captured soldiers Cpl. Gilad Shalit appears to be reaching its final stages. Though significant progress has been made in negotiations, senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan said Sunday that there remained open issues and that an agreement would not be reached unless Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "complies with the demands of the resistance."
However, Hamas sources quoted by Arab media said… Continue
I recently learned some statistics that surprised me, but upon reflection they really made sense. What do you think the rate of divorce is between first, second, and third marriages? Think about it. I didn’t and came to the wrong conclusion.
It’s pretty much agreed by most experts that first marriages end in divorce about 40-50% of the time. What surprised me is that the divorce rate increases with second marriages to something like 60% and more, while third marriages end in divorce at least 70… Continue

A Dad’s Point-of-View, by Bruce SallanIn Sickness and in Health
My wife had a medical emergency early one recent morning. The details are unimportant, but the care and response that we received were very important. At five a.m., she called her doctor and got him on the phone. He said we should call 911, which we did. Within a few minutes both a paramedic vehicle and a fire truck arrived at our door. Moments later, she was getting attended to by three men in uniforms while I sat… Continue

Sarah Palin told Barbara Walters that she takes issue with the Obama administration's insistence that Israel halt settlement construction. All the Jews "flocking" to Israel need somewhere to live.
"I disagree with the Obama administration on that," Palin told Walters. "I believe that the Jewish settlements should be allowed to be expanded upon, because that population of Israel is, is going to grow. More and more Jewish people will be flocking t… Continue

E-mail, Etiquette, and Friends
E-mail is so ubiquitous that we forget that it isn’t talking on the phone or having a conversation in person. Subtlety, facial expressions, or tonality are all lost in an e-mail message. I have found this has gotten me in trouble when I think I’m being funny, subtle, or sarcastic in an e-mail. And, the habit many of us have of forwarding a joke, photo, or an article creates even greater problems in many cases.… Continue

Settlements, the conventional wisdom says, are the true obstacles to peace in the Middle East. Not Palestinian intransigence. Not the fact that the Palestinians have been split into two groups—Hamas and the Palestinian Authority—for years. Not the fact that if the Palestinians really wanted to run their own lives, they could easily negotiate some kind of agreement with Israel. But first they’d have to actually sit down and negotiate, something they have refused to do for some time… Continue

Last night I stumbled upon an article, A Case For Secession-Introduction, (first of a series) on Gather.com and it struck me that the time may soon be approaching when one or two states will be called to step up for the rest of us in hopes of saving the Republic. I’m not advocating for secession now; I’m just looking at the possibility with a littl… Continue

My Kids Aren’t Me, in Spite of Sharing the Same DNA
I think the hardest lesson for me in becoming a parent was learning to let go of my expectations for my sons. Okay, I’ll be completely honest; I’ve only been able to partially let go of them. I think it’s impossible not to have some wishes for our kids, but the focus here is really on how we have specific things we hope they’ll like or do that often mirror our own interests or fantasies.
W… Continue

The veiled threat by the Palestinian Authority (PA) to approach the United Nations (UN) Security Council to seek its consent to the establishment of a new Arab state between Jordan, Israel and Egypt has received the short shrift it deserved from the European Union (EU).
Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt whose country holds the European Union’s rotating Presidency said on 17 November in Brussels:
"I don't think we are there yet. I would hope that we would be in a position to recognise a Pa… Continue

Israel's plan to build some 900 units in the capital's southeastern Gilo neighborhood "complicates" efforts to restart peace talks and could be "very dangerous" because it embitters the Palestinians, US President Barack Obama told Fox News Wednesday, after taking a breaking from touring the Great Wall of China.
Obama complained that additional "settlement building" did not make Israel safer. Israelis do not consider construction in their capital city to be "settlements" no… Continue
A Dad’s Point-of-View, by Bruce SallanIt’s a Tech World, After All
I love technology. I hate technology. I get so frustrated with technology. All of the above. That’s my generation and definitely me. My friend Marty is a tech wizard, while my wife is still using computers primarily for e-mail. I’m somewhat in the middle with my knowledge and depth of tech use and dependence, though my boys laugh at my attempts to learn anything new. But, it’s hard to resist all we hear about wha… Continue

A Dad’s Point-of-View, by Bruce SallanTattoos, Rap, and Saggy Pants
The journey from child, to teen, to young adult to parent seems to have similar stops along the way for most everyone. When I was in college, during the “age of stupidity,” as a man I greatly respect refers to the 60’s and early 70’s, as a “love child” and soon-to-be yuppie, I was thoroughly convinced that I would be a different parent to any children I might have than my parents were to me.
Naturally, I had AL… Continue
