The Blessing for Daughters

Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah... the mothers of the Jewish people. Each one possessed unique qualities that played essential roles in the strength and future of the nation. Yet there was something they all shared, something that Jewish women for all time would strive to emulate.

Each one lived in recognition that the ultimate in fulfillment is enabling others to reali… Continue

I believe that it is possible to have peace in the Middle East - when the right people appear on both sides. Jews and Muslims have been able to co-exist peacefully in other times - it can happen again. There is a very funny movie about what happens to America when Israel and its neighbors band together - America ends up owing them trillions of dollars and to pay off the debt, America has a telethon. Movie is called Americathon - wish I could get a copy!

Yoel,
Your posts are logical and well written. I'm not sure if you saw my answer to your lineage post. I haven't researched the issue on the cursed lineage though I am aware it exists. Hope I have time to research it and hope to get back to you with my conclusions if I do.
Thanks, Doug

Thank you for your reply it was very educational. Yes, my grandmother is my mother's mother, but I am not certain what anyone prior to my grandmother believed, religiously speaking on her side of the family. My maternal grandfather was not religious at all because his father was such a strict Morman, that he did not really allow much talk of religion, I gather, in his home. So I know at least that my mother's side of the family is pretty anti-Morman in their religious veiws. I didn't even know how my own parents had met until someone in the Jewish community told me, and how they knew and not me or any of my bothers or sisters I don't know. I guess I come from a very disfunctional family. I think I personnally don't care what people want to label me, I just care what G-d wants to label me as. All I know is I cannot separate myself from HaShem. And if many of my ancestors were also Christian on my mother's side, they seemed to have practiced a great deal of Orthodox Judaism thoughts for being Christians. I myself wonder if the whole Christian thing might be like the dreidel (SP?), some type of way to teach Jewish teachings but wrapped around something else, but which became something else under Constantine. I don't know, but the G-d I know isn't the one any Christian's I've met knows. But it does seem there are a great deal of Orthodox Jews that seem to know the one I know. So my attitude is one of "let G-d label me what G-d wants to label me and forget what any religious leader or person wants to label me." Afterall, in the whole of things it is the label G-d places on you that matters. I just hope G-d labels me "Righteous" as that is what I strive towards, though not always successfully I admit.

Dear Yoel,
Your writings about faith compelled me to drop a note. While our personal beliefs may not be exactly the same, it doesn't matter. You believe whatever, I believe whatever. Good. Good for you and me. Respect is the basis of friendship, and respect is a quality I see that you possess. You'll never hear from my lips a word about my faith as it pertains to you. It's not my job. Rather, I seek to build consensus with my friends against our common enemies who are manifold. This is, I believe, what matters most. I sent you this to extend my respect, and my apologies for some of my well - intentioned, albeit misguided brothers.
Regards,
chv
